DAY 7

Posted by David Weir

What a great week! I am glad to see day seven here. I remember thinking last year that 21 days was impossible, but by day 14 I knew I could do it. So during the second week, just work through any difficulties and keep your thoughts on the Word of God. There are breakthroughs ahead for all of us in every area of life. Healing, blessing, and most of all knowing God in a new way. Seeking His presence and hearing His voice clearly is our number one goal for 2008.

This morning I was reading about Esther. The lives of her people were at stake. A man named Haman convinced the king to issue orders to kill all the Jewish people. Faced with this impossible situation she proclaimed a fast.

Esther 4 (New International Version)
12 When Esther's words were reported to Mordecai, 13 he sent back this answer: "Do not think that because you are in the king's house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?"
15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 "Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."

Through this fast, God gave Esther wisdom to know what to do and favor with the king. She delivered the people and God blessed her mightily.

When we don't know what to do. When we are faced with impossible situations. We can humble ourselves and seek God in prayer and fasting. God will deliver us, just as He did countless times in the Bible. He rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

Hold on to God's promises for your life. God bless you this week as you seek God for 2008.
