What are we hungry for?

Posted by David Weir

Proverbs 27:7 (Amplified Bible)
7He who is satiated [with sensual pleasures] loathes and treads underfoot a honeycomb, but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

This verse keeps my thoughts on track when I fast. The sweet "honeycomb" of God's presence is loathesome to a soul that is already full of worldy things. It's amazing how sweet His presence is when the distractions of "modern life" have been removed.

Fasting Tip for Tuesday

Listen to praise and worship that encourages a hunger for God's presence. This is one of my favorites:

CHASING AFTER YOU- JONATHAN STOCKSTILL

CHASING AFTER YOU I AM HUNGRY FOR YOUR PRESENCE
I COME BEFORE YOUR THRONE AND LAY ALL MY BURDENS DOWN
YOU SAID YOU'LL NEVER LEAVE AND I'LL TAKE YOU AT YOUR PROMISE
MY LIFE IS IN YOUR HANDS SO I GIVE YOU ALL I AM

AND I WANT TO BE WITH YOU AND I WANT TO WALK WITH YOU
I FOUND MY DELIVERANCE IS HERE I FOUND MY HEALING IS HERE
I FOUND MY LIBERTY IS HERE I FOUND IT, I FOUND IT
THERE MUST BE MORE NOW FATHER THERE MUST BE MORE NOW SPIRIT THERE MUST BE MORE NOW JESUS
RAIN DOWN, RAIN DOWN

Lord Jesus, we know your will is to heal every hurting person. You want to heal the broken hearted today. We believe You at Your Word and we want to take Your healing power to our generation and we are interceding for broken lives today. In Jesus Name, amen!

Isaiah 58:6,8-"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke,to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard."

This fast will "untie the cords of the yoke." I believe that generational curses will be broken and that depression will leave our families, our homes, and our church.

May God give us the ability this week to overcome our "appetites" for things of this world that have nothing to do with our walk with Him so that we can be satisfied in Him alone.
